Year 3 trip to Magna Science Museum

admin on: Year Three Blog

On Wednesday 21st March, the Year 3 children and staff visited Magna Science Museum in Rotherham. We had an absolutely fantastic day and took part in a Rocks, Soils and Volcanoes workshop and also visited the Air, Earth, Fire and Water parts of the museum.

Look at our photos below. We'd highly recommend a trip to you all!

Year 3 Rugby training

admin on: Year Three Blog

On Wednesdays we have been visited by coaches from Leeds Rhinos! We have learned how to hold a rugby ball, how to pass the ball, catch the ball and score a try. We have been practising changing direction when running in order to evade the opposite team!

Snowy day

admin on: Year Three Blog

We spent the day learning about canopic jars and what the Ancient Egyptians used them for. We made our own canopic jars from clay. We are hoping that they will look like the ones in the picture once we have painted them!

We had great fun at playtime making snowmen and an igloo in the snow!

Science Homework

admin on: Year Three Blog

Lots of children have brought in their Science homework, describing the 'kitchen sink' science experiments you have been trying out.

We've had a description of a self- inflating balloon, how to make butter, how to make fireworks, and testing miniature microbes. It looks like you have been having good fun! Thank you for helping your children.

We are planning lots of fun experiments this half term which we have linked into our new topic on Ancient Egypt.

Below is a photo of an egg that Emma had managed to make the shell go soft and squidgy using vinegar.

Hessian bags

admin on: Year Three Blog

We made bags from hessian and drew Stone Age designs on them. We learned how to do running stitch, cross stitch and back stitch. We decided back stitch was the best stitch for sewing our bags together.
