Science
Our curriculum
Our Science curriculum aims to prepare our children for life in an increasingly scientific and technological world. We encourage pupils to explore the world around them and raise their own questions then plan and carry out investigations using equipment correctly.
Science is a practical subject with many activities requiring children to work together. It encourages the development of investigation, experimentation skills and interpretation of results. There are many cross curricular links with other subjects, particularly Design Technology, Geography and Mathematics. We help children understand the uses and implications of science, today and for the future.
Children develop scientific knowledge and conceptual understanding through the specific disciplines:
Physical Processes (Physics) Life Processes and Living things (Biology) Materials and their Properties (Chemistry).

British Science week 2026
This years theme for British Science Week was ‘Curiosity: what’s your question?’
This was celebrated in school 9th-13th March, where the children carried out some exciting and challenging experiments.
This theme was all about putting children and young people in the driver’s seat and encouraging them to find answers to the most pressing questions they have about the world.
It was wonderful to involve our local community and parent / carers with this week. We had a few speakers come to talk to the children about their jobs that involve science.
Each class carried out their own investigations, ready to show to their family and friends on the Friday for the Fantastic Finish.
