Reading Celebration Week 3rd - 7th March
Dear parents and carers,
Reading is such a crucial skill that helps children to unlock the rest of the curriculum and so our aim for the week is to inspire the children to fall in love with reading all over again. In an attempt to celebrate reading, in all its forms, the children will be taking part in a number of different activities such as book swaps, author/illustrator live streaming events, a dressing up day and lots of reading themed activities in their classes.
Extreme reading challenge
During the half term holiday (and the weeks leading up to our celebration week) we're encouraging the children to take part in an EXTREME READING CHALLENGE! Extreme reading is all about reading in unconventional or surprising locations or situations. The goal is to create a buzz around reading, showing your children that books can be enjoyed anytime, anywhere – whether you’re upside down on a sofa, perched safely in a tree, or balancing on a beam!
We'd like you to take photographic evidence of your child's extreme reading and bring it with them to school or email it to the school office. If you're stuck for some ideas please have a look at the list below.

World Book Day book swap and dressing up event
World Book Day is on Thursday 6th March and we will be celebrating by holding a book swap and dressing up. Children can dress up as their favourite book character or wear their pyjamas to celebrate bedtime stories. Children can also bring in a book they no longer want as book swaps will be held across each year group.
Fantastic Finish
To round off the week, parents will be invited into school on the afternoon of Friday 7th March from 2:45-3:45pm to look at all of the work that your children have been doing during the week. Children can be 'signed out' from school once you have had a good look around the various displays in different classrooms.
This promises to be a fantastic week that we are all really looking forward to.
